What size for my dog?
Almost every gear mistake is a sizing mistake. Set your dog's weight and build, and get the size class to shop in for a harness, crate, bed, and toys — plus the treat-calorie budget that keeps the trainer's pouch honest.
Size class
Extra small · 11 lbs
Daily treat budget: about 35 calories (the common ≤10%-of-diet guideline — your vet's number wins).
Approximations for shopping, not veterinary advice. Brand size charts always win over letter sizes, and your vet's guidance always wins on calories and joint health.
Then verify with a tape measure
Weight puts you in the right aisle; a soft tape measure buys the right item. The three numbers worth writing down: chest girth at the widest point behind the front legs (harness size), length from nose to base of tail plus a few inches (bed and crate), and standing height at the head (crate). Brand size charts beat letter sizes every time — especially for long, low, and deep-chested dogs.
From there, the fitting guides go deeper: harness fitting, crate sizing, and the long-backed dog home setup.
